Jonathan Hensley
Director, AI & User Experience

Where AI strategy meets user experience.

I solve complex problems at the intersection of AI, UX, and enterprise technology. 26 years of building systems that work for people, not against them.

I've spent my entire career at TeamHealth, one of the largest physician services organizations in the country. I started in enterprise IT — building and securing the infrastructure that 25,000+ people depend on every day. Over time, I moved from engineering desktops to engineering experiences, eventually leading user experience strategy across the organization.

A few years ago, I added AI to my mandate. Not because it was trendy, but because I saw what most organizations still struggle to see: AI adoption isn't a technology problem. It's a people problem. The tools are ready. The organizations usually aren't.

Today, as Director of AI & User Experience, I lead the work of making technology actually work for the people who use it — clinicians, administrators, and the patients they serve. That means UX governance, AI integration strategy, and a relentless focus on building things that are clear, usable, efficient, and human.

I also build things on my own time. I'm a non-coder who uses AI-assisted development to create production-grade tools — because I believe the best way to understand what AI can do is to use it to make something real.

Areas of expertise

AI strategy & adoption

Turning AI from a buzzword into operational advantage. I focus on practical integration — the kind where people actually change how they work, not just which tools they open.

User experience leadership

Enterprise UX at scale: governance, principles, education. Building a culture where every team understands that clarity, usability, and efficiency are their responsibility — not just the design team's.

Healthcare technology

Employee experience platforms, clinician-facing tools, and patient flow systems. I know what it takes to ship technology in healthcare — where the stakes are higher and the constraints are real.

AI-assisted development

I build production tools using AI as my development partner. No traditional coding background required. This isn't a thought experiment — it's how I work.

Building at scale

Platform

Zenith

Led the creation of TeamHealth's unified employee experience platform, connecting 20,000+ clinical and administrative team members through a single mobile app with 200+ integrated applications.

Product

Cognition

Part of the design team for TeamHealth's patient flow analytical platform, enabling more efficient patient management across partner emergency departments.

Unpopular opinion: Waiting for AI to “mature” before learning it is a career strategy — just not a good one.

I get it. The tools change weekly. The hype is exhausting. And half the use cases feel like solutions looking for problems. But here’s what I’m watching in…
